Job Description

Washington College, a member of the Centennial Conference, is seeking 2 qualified Assistant Athletic Trainer applicants. This is a 10-month position. The Assistant Athletic Trainer assists the Director of Sports Medicine with the 19 varsity sports of Washington College within the domains of practice and competencies of athletic training as defined by the National Athletic Trainers Association and Board of Certification. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, evaluation and treatment of injuries at practices and games, maintaining accurate and current medical records, design and supervision of rehabilitation programs, administration of athletic training duties as assigned and working with team physicians and student health services. Requires some travel and work over holidays and weekends. Primary sports coverage TBD.

Requirements

Duties (but not limited to):

  • Assist in the day-to-day operations of the athletic training room. Ensure proper use of equipment and facilities by student-athletes, including adherence to athletic training room time schedules and proper operating procedures.
  • Prevention, evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of athletic injuries.
  • Maintain accurate and current medical records.
  • Provide medical coverage for practices and contests as designated.
  • Supervise the medical coverage of teams as designated.
  • Provide medical coverage for home practices and contests.
  • Communicate the status of injured athletes to respective coaches, acting as a liaison between physician, athletes, coaches, and the Director of Sports Medicine.
  • Communicate and coordinate, with respective coaches, current health care standards and implementation of medical policies.
