POSITION SUMMARY
The Assistant Coach for Women's Cross Country plays a vital role in supporting the head coach in the
management and development of the women's cross-country program. This position involves actively
contributing to the coaching strategy, training sessions, and overall athlete development. The Assistant Coach
will collaborate with the coaching staff to create a positive team culture, focusing on fostering athletes'
technical skills, physical conditioning, and mental resilience. Additionally, involvement in recruitment efforts,
academic support, and administrative tasks will be integral to the success of the women's cross-country team.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• Contribute to the development of training plans and competition strategies.
• Provide support during races, including race-day logistics and strategic guidance.
• Assist in planning and conducting effective training sessions to enhance athletes' technical skills,
endurance, and race readiness.
• Provide individualized coaching and feedback to support the development of each athlete.
• Contribute to fostering a positive and inclusive team culture that prioritizes teamwork,
sportsmanship, and personal growth.
• Support initiatives aimed at creating a cohesive and supportive team environment
• Assist in identifying and recruiting talented student-athletes, including attending events, evaluating
prospects, and maintaining communication with potential recruits.
• Collaborate with the coaching staff to create a comprehensive recruitment strategy.
• Assist with day-to-day administrative tasks, including scheduling, travel arrangements, and
equipment management.
• Ensure compliance and track all players academic success, NAIA eligibility, and progress towards
a degree.
• Assist the head coach on the organization and participation in community outreach program for
men's and women's cross-country team(s).

• Assist in representative of the women's cross-country program in community outreach initiatives.
• Cultivate positive relationships with alumni, fans, and local running organizations.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
“Non-essential” If a duty takes up less than 5% of the employees’ time and is not viewed as a critical function
it is likely considered “non-essential” within the context of the ADA. These duties could be reassigned to
another employee in order to allow a disabled individual to hold the position.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Education: High school diploma required or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Bachelor’s degree in Business preferred.

ADDITIONAL JOB-SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum: Proficiency with Microsoft Office. Use of MS Outlook is a requirement. Preferred: Proficiency
with Front Rush, and video scouting program(s) used.

WORK CONDITIONS/ENVIRONMENT
Job Conditions: Frequent: computer use, fast-paced work, unscheduled interruptions, and speaking, reading,
and understanding English. Occasional: travel, working more than 40 hours/week, on-call weekend work,
and after-hours work.
Lifting/Moving: Frequent: Pushing, Pulling, Lifting and Carrying 50-100 pounds.
Physical: Stooping, kneeling, crouching and/or crawling, Walking and/or running, moving from one
location to another, Standing, Sitting, Climbing or balancing, Reaching, handling, fingering, and/or feeling
i.e., computer use, sports), Talking and/or hearing, using feet/legs to control equipment and seeing/vision.
Environment: Indoor, Outdoor in mild to inclement weather, Wet/Dry Conditions, Cold/Heat, and
Noise/Vibrations. Occasional: Fumes/Dust/Odors.
Equipment: Computer, copy machines, weight training equipment, whistle, timing equipment, and trail
management equipment.
