Hollins University in Roanoke, Virginia, a NCAA Division III institution and member of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC), invites applications for the part-time position of Women’s Flag Football Head Coach beginning immediately. This is a part-time (approximately 15-20 hours/week), 11-month (August – June) position reporting to the Director of Athletics.

About the Role

The head coach role for flag football includes program administration, development, and promotion; student-athlete development; recruitment, practices, and games; and helping advance Hollins’ diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging goals. Hollins will field a club team in the 2024-25 academic year with plans to move to varsity status in the 2025-2026 academic year. The head coach will help play a key role in assisting athletics administration in working with different stakeholders in college athletics to make flag football a recognized NCAA Division III offering.

Position Qualifications

Successful applicants must have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience, a thorough understanding and working knowledge of USA Flag Football rules and procedures, possession of (or ability to obtain upon hire) first aid and CPR certifications, and a valid United States driver’s license with minimal violations. Candidates must demonstrate effective coaching methods; exhibit excellent recruiting, leadership, role-modeling, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; have demonstrated success working with diverse populations; and possess Microsoft Office proficiency. Applicants must have abilities to work well with students, families, and campus constituencies, as well as work independently and as part of a team. Candidates must also be willing and able to travel and work evenings and weekends. Applicants with experience in recruiting; minimum of one year of relevant coaching experience (preferably at the collegiate level); and in a single-sex, residential, liberal arts higher education institution are preferred.
