Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license, certification and/or educational degree if required of the position.

• CPR certified annually.
• Collegiate coaching or playing experience in golf.
• Knowledge of the rules and playing strategies of golf. This includes, but is not limited to, teaching techniques, coaching strategies and safety measures that are necessary to compete at the collegiate level.
• Ability to express ideas clearly, concisely, and logically, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to interact effectively and establish cooperative working relationships with highly motivated UC Davis student/athletes, coaching colleagues, department staff and other persons from diverse backgrounds including parents, fans, boosters, members of the media an officials associated with this sport.

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to learn the complex policies and procedures regarding academic eligibility of UC Davis student/athletes. These include UC Davis, Conference and the National Collegiate Athletic Association policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

70% - Coaching

Assists in the preparation of effective golfing techniques and insures plans are consistent with the skills and abilities of student-athletes. Travels to away matches as designated and assists the head coach with team management. Assists the head coach with all aspects of coaching and team management at a level commensurate to the assigned duties.

20% - Recruitment

Recruit high school and junior college students to come to UC Davis to participate in the intercollegiate athletic program as a student-athlete. The recruiting duties will be assigned by the head coach. Duties may include telephone calls, letter writing, home visits, visiting high schools and junior colleges, attending games/matches and tournaments, etc.

Analyze team personnel needs on an on-going basis in order to assist in the establishment of a multi-year recruiting plan with specific objectives that encompasses the program’s financial resources.

Observe matches of scheduled opponents in order to learn strategic information about the opposing team and the quality of personnel. Must travel and review game/match film.

10% - Development

Assist the head coach as directed in fundraising and special project activities.
