Work Study - Academics Study Hall & Compliance Assistant Fall 2026 & Spring 2027

Position Announcement

The Work Study - Academics & Compliance Assistant - Study Hall position offers a valuable opportunity to gain first-hand, entry-level experience in collegiate athletics. This role reports directly to the Associate Athletic Director – Student Athletic Academic Services within the Utah Valley University NCAA Division I Athletic Department.

The position monitors mandatory study hall and tutoring sessions while fostering a collaborative and supportive learning environment for student-athletes. Responsibilities include monitoring the assigned facility, supervising student-athletes and tutors, and ensuring compliance with all applicable departmental, institutional, and NCAA rules and policies. This position also assists the Athletic Compliance Office with data entry and special projects.

This role requires a commitment of approximately 10–28 hours per week, primarily during evening hours.

Summary of Responsibilities

• Keeps supervisor apprised of personal schedules. Notifies supervisor of any issues with programs or equipment, or any items which are taken from the study hall area.
• Maintains accurate attendance records in the computer tracking system, including checking students in and out, recording subjects studied and completion information.
• Maintains a clean and orderly academic area by pushing in chairs, straightening furniture, and picking up papers and garbage left by student-athletes. Ensures that there is always a sufficient supply of paper, staples, tape, etc.
• Enforces policies for the Academic Area by ensuring that student-athletes are silent, reminding them of study hall rules, and/or enforcing rules by escorting students out if they continue to disrupt the academic area.
• Manages the study hall facility, closing and securing the facility, as well as ensuring safety in the facility.

Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications

• Must be a current UVU student and have been awarded Federal Work-Study for 2026-2027 through UVU Financial Aid.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

• Knowledge of NCAA Athletics
• Use of computer programs, including MS, PowerPoint, Excel, and Publisher
• Ability to effectively communicate with administrators, coaches, staff, and students both verbally and in writing
• Ability to manage and keep accurate records
• Ability to learn quickly, multi-task, adapt, and work independently
• Ability to firmly, but fairly, enforce the study hall rules in a strict manner
• Ability to maintain personal information confidential.
• Ability to work with compliance regarding NCAA, WAC, Big West, and University rules regarding mandatory study for student athletes

Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities - Proficiency with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Forms) - Skills in working with individuals from diverse backgrounds. - Skills in verbal and written interpersonal communication
