USC Athletics is looking to hire an Administrative Assistant I to join our staff and student community of 600+ individuals. This role is responsible for overseeing the daily functioning of an academic and student services office that provides advising, tutorial, and related support services for nearly 600 student-athletes.
Apply NowAdditional requirements include serving in an administrative support role to 3 Associate/Assistant Directors. The position is located at a busy front desk, so the Administrative Assistant will also provide help to students and guests of the Stevens Academic Center. This position will be integral in the day-to-day operations of the center including maintaining and reconciling accounts, booking travel, assisting with events, ordering supplies and performing key office support functions.
Reporting directly to the Assistant Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Enrichment Programs and Services (STEPS) Operations, the Administrative Assistant will work in collaboration with the Stevens Academic Center and other athletic department staff as well as multiple departments across campus. The ideal candidate will have excellent written and oral communication skills as well as meticulous organizational skills and will pay very close attention to detail. The candidate will have extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office, and familiarity with account management systems such as Concur and Workday and graphic design tools such as Canva Pro. Knowledge of and experience working in higher education preferred. Understanding of the unique culture and needs of college athletes preferred.

This is a NON-EXEMPT (HOURLY), one-year fixed term position with work expected to be from 8:00am-5:00pm. There is a possibility of some evening work related to events.
Roles and responsibilities to include:
Composes and produces a variety of business correspondence, reports, confidential documents and/or forms.
Assists with the coordination of student programming, special events, and conferences. Arranges with vendors for catering and sites. Designs and produces creative content for events.
Maintains and modifies office web site including content, graphical, and multimedia displays and communications.
Manages office and travel accounts using university account management systems.
Assists in maintaining office equipment and purchases.
Assists with purchases and reconciling receipts for student programming and academic materials.
Screens and prioritizes incoming calls, determining what contact or action is required for satisfactory disposition. Responds to inquiries or requests for information or refers to supervisor, as appropriate.
Promotes an environment that fosters inclusive relationships and creates unbiased opportunities for contributions through ideas, words, and actions that uphold principles of the USC Code of Ethics.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. The University reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess an associate’s degree (bachelor’s degree preferred) and a minimum of 2 years experience (3 years preferred). Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education.
Proficient with Microsoft Office, Concur and Workday or similar programs, and graphic design tools.
Experience working in higher education and/or a sports related field ideal.
Hourly Range:
The hourly rate range for this position is $22.29-$28.06.
