Anticipated Appointment Date:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Reports to the Chief Human Resources Officer and collaborates with the Deputy Director for Human Resources Management on synergies and best HR processes and systems.
   
2. Collaborate with the Deputy Athletic Director/Strategic Initiatives & Administration and other senior leaders in defining department initiatives by having an excellent understanding of the organization's objectives, issues, needs, and key success factors.
   
3. Work in close collaboration with Human Resources to ensure strategic alignment, integration/consistency, and standardization.
   
4. Develop organization-specific human resources policies and practices; set the human resources strategy for planning processes, and actively promote best practices. Identify and analyze trends; make recommendations for changes/improvements.
   
5. Design and lead strategies for facilitating organizational and behavioral change. Make recommendations on organizational design and development issues.
   
6. Investigate complex employee relations issues and initiate appropriate resolution; recommend and facilitate effective solutions in alignment with applicable policies and laws; assess risk to the organization and identify compliance issues.
   
7. Coach and advise staff on organizational, employee, and labor relations issues.
   
8. Participate in setting organizational objectives and goals.
   
9. Work collaboratively to identify, direct, and/or deliver the training and development planning for individuals and groups.
   
10. Direct talent management program (recruitment and staffing plans and retention) and provide effective recruitment methods for assigned areas. Structure complex offers; support or lead high level and complex searches.
    
11. Manage the performance of direct report. Set team objectives, priorities, and resources to align with department objectives.
    
12. Regularly assess and implement programming to improve organizational culture and morale, ensuring a positive, inclusive, and diverse work environment for all.
    
13. Assist with the development and management of employee contracts.
    
14. Oversee Athletics Department Staff Council (ADSC) whose mission is to heighten communication amongst athletics department staff, recognize campus and community achievements and continually identify ways to pursue and sustain success at the highest level.
    
15. Assist with other duties as necessary and assigned.
    
16. Manage special projects as requested by the Director of Athletics & Deputy AD/Strategic Initiatives & Administration including the development of reports, documents, and presentations.
    
17. Assist other departments and offices to develop a healthy understanding of athletics administration.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business or related field with three (3) years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree preferred.
• Prior project management experience preferred in collegiate athletics or a related field.
• Ability to respect confidentiality and practice discretion is required.
• Excellent communication (oral and written) skills required.
• Ability to effectively engage and present to a wide variety of constituents, both internally and externally.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with exceptional listening skills and high emotional intelligence.
• Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
• Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
• Knowledge of customer service principles, techniques, systems, and standards.
• Skill in budget management.
• Knowledge of faculty and/or staff hiring procedures.
• Ability to develop and maintain recordkeeping systems and procedures.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

• Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
• No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
• No or very limited physical effort required.
