Apply NowThe Associate Athletic Director for External Affairs serves an integral role in the overall external affairs of Northwestern Athletics with a primary focus on revenue initiatives. This position will facilitate the development and execution of strategic plans supporting brand awareness, ticket sales, sponsorship, creative services, and other revenue generating initiatives. Additionally, this position will provide oversight for the entire marketing unit of the athletic department with an emphasis on digital marketing. This position works closely with all members of the Athletic Department, as well as numerous contacts both inside and outside the University community.

Specific Responsibilities :
·       Collaborate with the Senior Associate A.D. for External Affairs, to implement and execute key strategic revenue generation initiatives across the department.
·       Manage the relationship with the Department’s official merchandiser and concessions partners.
·       Serve as a member of the external affairs leadership cabinet to ensure that the external units are aligned and meeting department goals and objectives, inclusive but not limited to;
o  Working with the creative services department to ideate and execute advertising creative,
o  Effectively implementing sponsorship entitlements in consultation with the Department’s multimedia rights holder.
o  Coordinating with the ticket sales, communications, creative services, sponsorship team and operations departments to implement plans to meet all attendance and ticket revenue goals.
o  Serving as a liaison between the team and the department’s community relations area to enhance the profile of the team’s involvement in the community.
·       Serve as the gameday primary contact for staffing, revenue generation, and event execution.
o  Ensure execution of all gameday operations, led by Marketing Department, including in-game production/game operations, activation of tickets sales initiatives, and execution of fan experience elements both in and around the stadium.
o  Negotiate and execute advertising relationships to enhance the Northwestern brand and assist in selling tickets.
o  Collaborate with Event and Facilities Management Department to provide the best fan experience possible.
·       Manage and oversee the daily responsibilities of the full-time and temporary staff of the Marketing department.
·       Use data-driven approaches to enhance all areas of revenue generation and execute comprehensive revenue generation campaigns.
·       Develop and execute digital marketing strategies.
o  Oversee and manage all efforts of the marketing unit in media buys for advertising purposes as well as branding.
·       Responsible for adhering to all Department and University policies and procedures, as well as the rules, regulations, bylaws and interpretations of the Big Ten Conference and the NCAA.
·       Responsible for adhering to all Department and University continuing education initiatives and required certifications and trainings.
Miscellaneous
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
·       5-7 years of relative experience in collegiate/professional sports, marketing, sales, public relations, or other similarly related field.
·       Proven track record of delivering success in the areas of marketing, sales, revenue generation, management public relations.
Minimum Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities.)
·       Experience in event management and the production and supervision of major events.
·       Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills.
·       Strong organizational and time management skills
·       Professional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
·       Ability to work in a dynamic fast paced environment.
·       Ability to handle multiple tasks at once and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
·       Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.
·       Master’s degree preferred.
·       Knowledge of rules and regulations of the NCAA, Big Ten Conference and Northwestern University preferred.

Target hiring range for this position will be between $85,350-$100,000 per year. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
