Athletics is accepting applications for an Associate Director for Communications. This position is responsible to the Assistant Athletic Director for Communications for assistance with public relations and publicity for the university’s athletics program. This includes the production of
ETSU
Athletics and University publications, marketing engagement, event management, preparing news releases, and assisting with the management of graduate assistants, interns, and other student help.
The successful candidate will create and execute social media content that generates excitement for ETSU’s sport programs, department, and university. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to the creation and execution of graphics, sports information, strategic marketing, branding, news releases, and the development of game-day publications.
The position is also responsible for performing the following job duties:
Creating department-wide graphic design including layout and design that consistently identify, drive, and communicate Athletics department information.
Creating effective content for social media accounts, video boards, and marketing materials.
Serving as the liaison between university coaches and student-athletes and the local, state, and national media by coordinating interview requests, setting up press conferences, and media days, as needed.
Working with strategic marketing, branding, broadcast and messaging department.
Assisting in the development of recruiting materials as needed.
Assist the media relations staff with game-day operations for football, men’s basketball and women’s basketball.
Handling requests and questions on the phone and in person from fans, students, alumni, and members of the general public regarding the university, its sports programs, student-athletes and coaches.
Promoting individual student-athletes for conference, regional, and national awards and honors.
Maintaining the department’s website ( www.ETSUBucs.com )
Assisting with various social media accounts.

Possess strong writing, editing and design skills.

Computer skills using Mac and PC platforms, in addition to Stat Crew and/or
NCAA
Live Stats experience with football, volleyball, basketball, soccer and/or baseball/softball.
Proficient in Adobe Creative Software.
Strong attention to detail.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, Power Point and other computer skills.
Self-starter with an outstanding work ethic.
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
Must have high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and information.
Strong teamwork aptitude.
Strong customer service skills.
Excellent communication, presentation, and listening skills.

Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of East Tennessee State University, the Southern Conference, and the
NCAA
.
Bachelor’s degree or higher, and a minimum of one (1) year of full-time experience working in Athletic Communications/Sports Information
OR
one year experience in graphics, design, and/or creative media,
OR
an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Two (2) years of experience working as in a Graduate Assistant and/or internship position in Athletics Communications/Sports information or related field can be used in lieu of one-year experience.
Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, art, marketing, advertising or related field.
Experience in graphic/creative design with a background in sports design and creative content.
Previous experience working in a college sports information office.
