Job Description
The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for an Events Center Technician 2 (Operations Technician) for Nevada Athletics. The main purpose of the Events Center Technician 2 is to assist Director of Facilities in the day-to-day operations of University of Nevada Athletics. Duties include but are not limited to:
Apply NowIdentifies maintenance issues throughout athletic venues to determine the need of maintenance or repairs Coordinates staff with venue requests, including furniture/equipment moves and assembly, and performing light maintenance work
Helps in the preparation of required work orders, prioritizes, tracks progress and communicates with coaches and staff concerning work
Completes regular inspections for cleanliness, orderliness, maintenance, safety and ease of passage
Monitors newspapers, periodicals, websites, and other media to identify events that may have an effect on facilities and other campus resources
Coordinates with maintenance regarding general supply inventory and equipment storage for assigned venue including organization
Coordinates the maintenance of storage operations
Coordinates site safety and security for assigned venue
Manages the setup of game/event related equipment at Mackay Stadium, Peccole Park, Hixson Park, Virginia Street Gym, Legacy Hall, Cashell Field House, Lombardi Recreation Center, Basin Street Club and off-site venues
Communicates to coaches and appropriate staff information regarding use of all athletics facilities
Provides supervision to students and temp workers
Required Qualifications
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of skilled work experience in setting and striking sets at a major events center with sophisticated sound and lighting systems. One year of this experience must have included coordinating the work of others in the setting and striking of sets; OR
Two years of experience as an Events Center Technician I in Nevada State service; OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, some positions in this series have been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in these positions must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
Physical Demands
This position requires lifting and carrying up to 50 to 100 pounds occasionally.
This position may work at heights in excess of 65 feet above the ground.
Schedule
Varied work schedule to include days, nights, weekends and holidays.
Compensation Grade
Grade 31 (Entry, Step 01 $23.49/hr. – Step 05 $27.79/hr.)
In classified service, salary is in Grade and Step. The Step is determined based on the Nevada Administrative Code. Salary placement above a Step 01 at initial appointment is determined based on the recruitment, the candidate’s qualifications, internal equity and budgets. A request to accelerate salary must be approved by Human Resources and abide by the Nevada Administrative Code.
