Provide clinical counseling (individual, couples, group) and performance enhancement services for student-athletes with a wide range of presenting concerns. Complete pre-participation mental health screenings, intakes, and emergency assessments according to established policies and procedures. Facilitate student-athlete access and transition to appropriate mental health providers for ongoing pharmacological and longer term or specialized behavioral therapies when appropriate. Conduct performance consultations with individual student-athletes and teams.
Work within an integrated healthcare model – Effectively consulting with Team Physicians, Athletic Trainers, Nutrition staff, Strength and Conditioning staff, Academic Advisors, and Learning Specialists. Manage sensitive and confidential information related to student-athletes, coaches, and athletic staff. Ensure client confidentiality and maintain ethical and legal guidelines as required by the State of Florida. Ability to accurately interpret and adhere to NCAA rules, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974, Florida State University and the Department of Athletics policies, and Florida licensure-related statutes.
Develop and provide outreach presentations to student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and staff on topics surrounding student-athlete psychological well-being, academic success, mental performance, and emerging team needs.
