The Intercollegiate Athletics has an outstanding opportunity for a Olympic Sports Nutrition Operations Coordinator to join their team.
POSITION PURPOSE
The Olympic Sports Nutrition Operations Coordinator will oversee the central and satellite fueling stations, manage their staffing, and coordinate all inventory and ordering for training fuel and nutritional/ergogenic supplements for student-athletes in the University of Washington Athletic Department. The position will be based out of the Performance Nutrition Center in the Graves Annex Building of the Athletic Department.
The Nutrition Operations Coordinator will report directly to the Director of Performance Nutrition and be expected to perform the following as a shift-lead:
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Ensure the central fueling station is fully stocked and clean. (25%).
• Manage basketball locker room budget, stocking, and ordering. Relay practice and competition information from the Performance Dietitians to create schedules for stocking and pre- and post-practice fuel delivery. (25%).
• Track inventory of food and beverage usage in the central and satellite fueling stations, plus nutritional and ergogenic supplements. Place, organize, and receive food, beverage, and nutritional and ergogenic supplement orders. (15%).
• Manage a small staff of workers, sports nutrition volunteers, and students, including scheduling, onboarding orientations, and updating training manuals. (6%).
• Coordinate competition day and travel nutrition snacks for teams. (6%).
• Maintain a sanitary and clean environment for student athletes by following written food safety protocols, tracking temperatures for fridges and warming drawers, ensuring all food safety documentation is updated, and that all workers have active food safety worker certifications. Become the main contact for university food safety visits. (5%).
• Interact with student-athletes and be available to answer questions or direct the athletes to appropriate resources (5%).
• Other tasks as identified by the Performance Dietitians (5%).
• Manage communications within the central and satellite fueling stations, including posting and having accurate ingredients list with common allergies posted for daily breakfast and smoothie ingredients, ensuring fuel items have accurate labels with nutrition information, ensuring operation hours are posted and accurate, ensuring fueling station updates are communicated on social media, and submitting maintenance requests (4%).
• Adhere to budget guidelines laid out by the Director of Performance Nutrition and track budget and spending throughout the course of the year for all food, beverage, and nutritional and ergogenic supplements. Pay invoices for all products ordered. (4%).
Compliance with the rules and regulations of the University, the NCAA, the Big Ten Conference, the State of Washington and any other governing body is of paramount importance to the University. The overall responsibility of this position is for the successful operation of the program in full compliance with all such rules and regulations. As a condition of employment, the Employee may be required to participate in rules education programs offered by the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
High school graduation or equivalent AND two years of experience in the program specialty OR equivalent education/experience.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Ability to work independently and as an integral member of the Performance Nutrition Department.
• Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced environment while still paying attention to detail.
• Possess strong time and priority management skills and possess effective oral and written communication skills.
• Practice safe food handling skills and obtain food handlers permit within 30 days of hire.
• Be able to lift, push, and pull objects up to 50 lbs.
• Be reliable and dependable and accomplishing assigned tasks.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Those who are interested in becoming Registered Dietitians in the athletic setting and seeking resume-boosting experiences are highly encouraged to apply.
• A strong interest in the field of sports nutrition and management.
• Experience in project management and managing a small staff.
• Experience having worked in a collegiate and/or professional sport fueling station operation.
• We are looking for someone who will be able to work autonomously.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
40 hours weekly, Monday to Friday from 6:45am-2:45pm. Be prepared to occasionally work UW official holidays and breaks.
