- Provides Musical direction and instruction in support of the athletic Pep Band program including:
- Select, arrange, and/or compose music for the pep band performances.
- Conduct rehearsals to ensure musical accuracy, precision, and artistic expression.
- Provide individualized coaching and feedback to student musicians to enhance their skills and musicianship.
- Creates the athletic band through University students with a primary focus on performances at all men’s and women’s basketball games.

- Completes and maintains all forms and records as required for NCAA.
- Supervises and instructs members of band program.
- Maintains and orders equipment, and supplies in conjunction with the Associate Athletic Director of Marketing and Creative Services.
- Understands and informs band members on NCAA rules and regulations.
- Maintains a close working relationship with the Assistant Athletic Director of Marketing and Creative Services regarding media relations, public relations, promotion, and awards to promote intercollegiate athletics as an integral part of the University.
- Attends all men’s and women’s basketball games as scheduled by the athletic department and works in collaboration with the athletic department on public relations appearances.
- Identifies and trains a student director to assist in regular season and post season pep band performances at men’s and women’s basketball games.
- Contributes to departmental policies, procedures, and actions to University-wide gender equity and cultural diversity efforts and to foster a climate of multi-cultural understanding and appreciation.
- Work with the Assistant Athletic Director of Marketing and Creative Services to create innovative ideas to increase game day atmosphere.
- Build and maintain positive and professional relationships with the region’s high school band directors and students to assist in recruitment of future pep band members and/or music department students.
- Assists the Associate Athletic Director of Marketing and Creative Services with all travel logistics for Post Season Basketball competition.
