Possesses a working knowledge of NCAA and ACC legislation. Serve as a member of the compliance team and reports to the Assoc Ath Dir for Compliance. Responsible for assisting in the application, implementation, and monitoring of NCAA, ACC, and University rules and regulations in all areas of the NCAA Operating Bylaws including but not limited to: ethical conduct, personnel, amateurism, recruiting, eligibility, financial aid, benefits, and playing and practice seasons with a concentration in assigned bylaw areas. This includes, but is not limited to, evaluating and detecting infractions, monitoring, documenting, educating, and developing policies and procedures. In accordance with office guidelines, coordinate and conduct office monitoring, education, and training initiatives related to assigned bylaws; maintain office processes and procedures; research and respond to interpretive issues; prepare and conduct rules education initiatives in assigned areas; compile and draft waivers for submission to the NCAA and/or ACC Conference; report, investigate, and file violations; and provide overall support for the Institution’s Athletics compliance program and processes. Serves as primary compliance contact for assigned sport teams and administrative units within the athletics dept.
Create and implement annual comprehensive rules education and monitoring plans. Create an elite student athlete education and monitoring program. Foster a commitment to compliance by ensuring that FSU has a comprehensive rules education program for coaches, student-athletes, Athletic Department staff, and university constituents to ensure they receive a strong understanding of the rules. Conduct, document, and attend rules education meetings with coaches, staff members and student-athletes, including but not limited to beginning and end of the year team meetings, monthly rules education meetings, football staff meetings, administrative, recruiting and event planning meetings. Partner with other offices on campus to ensure FSU's compliance with all NCAA, ACC, and University rules and regulations.
Continually monitor, audit, evaluate, and seek to improve compliance systems and those who utilize them to ensure accuracy and efficiency. Collect, monitor, and ensure completion of assigned NCAA and ACC reports, University required forms and completion of compliance related paperwork by student-athletes prior to any participation.
Respond to interpretive inquiries of NCAA and ACC legislation and University policies. Investigate and file NCAA violations.
Develop and maintain all social media presence related to FSU Compliance Operations. Additionally, maintain FSU Compliance Website
Assist the compliance leadership team with supervision of the compliance staff, including delegation of day-to-day compliance responsibilities in accordance with compliance team structure. Collaborate with and provide feedback to all members of the compliance team.
Bachelor's degree and four years' experience related experience within the appropriate athletics discipline, or a high school diploma or equivalent and the same experience equal to eight years. (Note: post-high school education may substitute for experience at the equivalent rate.)
Knowledge of the NCAA rules and guidelines.
